The Exciting Work You’ll Do…

The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for supporting a culture of philanthropy to ensure sustained funding for mission related programs, creating lasting relationships with donors and volunteers, and raising the profile of YWCA in the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Fund Development:

  • Prepares short and long-range marketing goals to maximize the brand, reputation, and communication efforts of YWCA Madison in collaboration with the Advancement Director.

  • Communicates YWCA Madison’s vision, mission, and values to the public by promoting fundraising activities and keeping the public informed of YWCA's programs, accomplishments, or point of view in collaboration with the Advancement Director Development, Marketing & Events Manager, and other YWCA Staff

  • Identifies potential contributors through examination of past records, individual and corporate contracts, knowledge of community and collaboration with board of directors and fund development committees. Ensures excellent stewardship of donors through one-on-one meetings, personal contact, written correspondence, recognition, and support in collaboration with the CEO and the Board of Directors.

  • Engages members of the Empowerment Society (a five-year pledge giving group) through meetings, timely updates, and accurate record keeping.

  • Solicits donations of goods to support programming needs in collaboration with the Development Coordinator.

  • Plans and coordinates fund drives for special projects and ongoing operations in collaboration with the Development Coordinator.

  • Establishes and grows planned giving for YWCA Madison.

  • Builds relationships with YWCA donors through donor stewardship activities.

  • Develops donor recognition activities.

  • Informs potential contributors of special needs of YWCA Madison, and encourages individuals, corporations, and foundations to establish or contribute to special funds through endowments, trusts, donations of gifts-in-kind, or bequests, conferring with attorneys to establish methods of transferring funds to benefit both donors and institution.

  • Direct Mail: Organizes and develops direct mail solicitation to raise funds in collaboration with the Advancement Director.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of the fund development plan and stewardship plans. Supporting the engagement of sponsorships and providing information to the Advancement Director and CEO

Information Systems Management:

  • Develops and maintains mailing lists and completes reports accurately and in a timely manner within the Bloomerang.

  • Oversees donor acknowledgment processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

  • Sends out and tracks pledge reminders for major gifts and sponsorships in collaboration with the Development Coordinator

  • Completes reports, queries, and paperwork as needed.

  • Verifies entered data by reviewing, correcting, deleting, or reentering data.

  • Recognizes recurring issues and analyzes their causes in order to reach a solution.

Events:

  • Participate in planning events and day-of logistics as part of the Development Team.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hires, trains, develops, and directs department staff.

  • Provides a portion of staff orientation to all new department employees and ensures completion of all orientation and training requirements.

  • Motivates staff to achieve goals through individual and group supervision, coaching, goal setting, training, and staff development, among other strategies.

  • Reviews and evaluates staff performance.

  • Remains accountable for positive client service and accurate record keeping.

  • Directly supervises the Development Coordinator.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful…

  • A bachelor’s degree from a college or university, or three to four years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Donor Management Software experience preferred, specifically Bloomerang.

  • Proven track record of relationship management skills

  • Well organized, self-starter, and team oriented.

  • Ability to communicate in a compelling manner.

  • Possess computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
